In this guide we will be discussing how to create and send message alerts.




To begin, simply head over to the "Messages" tab on the dashboard. To create an alert message you can either choose from a preset template, which we have provided a list of common alerts, or  select create a new alert to begin an all new message.

For this example I will start with a template, lets go with an earthquake alert. When selected all of the necessary fields will be filled in with the template’s data.



You can see the channel for the message to be delivered is over text message, phone call, and email. The corresponding messages for each of these channels is down below. Here is the Text message, the phone call message, and the email filled in with the template data.


Next, lets scroll up and select who should receive our message. In our groups section, you can choose what group should receive the alert.




These recipient groups need to be configured in the recipients tab, which is covered in a separate video. If you like, you can select a dynamic group, which allows you to manually select who will receive the messages.


For now though, I will go ahead and just select the residents group.

Lastly you must choose which region to be alerted, regions can be configured in the admins tab, which is also covered in its own respective guide.



Go ahead and leave all regions selected.


Now that that is configured, you can easily update each of these messages with any additional information before sending out the alert.


Go ahead and add “Standby for more information.”


You can see that our template includes a dynamic field, a dynamic field can instantly update all fields across your messages.

This is perfect for things like location, so you can quickly send out your message without having to manually update the location in each message.



I’ll just put “Los Angeles” here


Now when the message is sent out, the location field will be filled with “Los Angeles” across all message channels.

Of course if you would like to manually update the location in each message, you are welcome to do so.

(manually copy and paste Los Angeles) (ctrl v to remove the changes.)




Next, depending on what languages you have enabled in the settings tab, you are able to translate you message to those additional languages.


Just click the “translate all button.” You can then view and confirm the message contents by clicking on the respective languages tab.



Lastly, you can preview the phone call audio message by clicking the play button, as well as download the text to speech file for later use.


Now with everything configured, we are ready to send our message!


When you click the send message button, you will be prompted one more time to confirm the message. You can see the selected locations, channels, and the number of recipients that will receive the alert. You will also have one more chance to edit your dynamic field.


If everything looks correct then hit the send alert button to send your message!


After an alert has been sent, you can see your sent messages in the sent tab. Here you can delete them, or view some statistics about the message
